Anaiz Harris, RVT, Primary Care Manager

Anaiz Harris, RVT grew up in Long Island, New York before her family and her childhood dog, a sheltie named Annabelle, relocated to Cary, North Carolina during her sophomore year of high school. She fell in love with North Carolina almost immediately. She graduated from UNC Wilmington with a bachelor’s in social work and although veterinary medicine wasn’t her first choice in school, it was always a passion of hers to help both people and animals alike. It wasn’t until the passing of Annabelle after 14 years together that Anaiz started to realize she wanted to bring her compassion and empathy from her social work background into the veterinary medicine field.

In 2018, Anaiz moved to Sanford, NC to attend Central Carolina Community College for their Veterinary Medical Technology program. After graduating in May of 2020, Anaiz moved to be closer to family during the pandemic. Becoming a RVT while working for a small general practice of Vets Pets really helped her stand apart and gave her a sense of responsibility to continue to learn in order to help clients, patients, and co-workers alike. Anaiz is very excited to start this new chapter in her life with the team at Wake Veterinary Medical Center. When she isn’t working, you can find her spending time with her dog, Gryffin, or with her parents who she is very grateful for everything they’ve done to help her find better opportunities in life. She also loves to read and talk about books, so she started a book club with people who all have different roles in the veterinary world, that way she can spend time with friends talking about the two things they love, their books and their animals.
